Students interested in international law at Johns Hopkins University SAIS participated in a study trip to The Hague, Netherlands from March 20-21. The two-day trip was attended by eight students over spring break. They were joined by Dr. Marko Milenkovic, post-doctoral fellow at CCSDD.
Students attended two trial hearings at the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the International Criminal Tribunal for Yugoslavia (ICTY) were they also learned about the Courts’ histories and current developments. Other organizations visited during the trip included the International Development Law Organisation (IDLO), Organization for Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), EUROJUST- The EU’s Judicial Cooperation Unit and the Hague Institute for the Internationalisation of Law (Hiil).
Throughout the study trip, students met with officials, attended speaker presentations and got an insight into workings of important international institutions. Photos from the study trip can be viewed below.
